Starting Monday June 4th and the two consecutive Mondays – the 11th and the 18th, we will be going all out to welcome as many guests as our rehearsal space will hold. There will be singing, refreshments, singing, quartetting, more singing, and a good time to be had by all–did we mention there would be lots of singing?

We’re looking for a few good men. Heck, we’re looking for a lot of good men to join the rest of us here on the risers. Everyone of the male persuasion is welcome. Our guests are welcome to come to any or all of the nights listed above.

Some of us got there early, at around 3 or so, but the bus got in at 4 p.m. We were ushered through the stage door and made our way to our dressing rooms up on the 4th floor. We had to wait because the Japanese choruses were rehearsing hard themselves. Our fearless director, Keith, warmed us up, but we were excited to hit the stage. To say we were “warm” already was an understatement. There was electricity and anticipation all about us!

When we first took the stage to practice, we were taken with the size of the Japanese groups we were to sing with. And the hall itself is beautiful! After practicing our two songs together, we were allowed to rehearse our barbershop set. The acoustics were phenomenal! The audience was empty but the experience of simply being in the hall was awesome.

We were able to break for a modest dinner and a rest, all the while getting dressed in our tuxedos. And when showtime started, we were all ready to go!

New York, NY- (March 12, 2012) Kaz Kojima is proud to present the USA-Japan Goodwill Concert at Carnegie Hall – Stern Auditorium on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 8PM. The concert will benefit Japan earthquake victims and feature performances by the Goshiki Sakura Chorus from Japan and The Westchester Chordsmen. Coro Fenice from Japan will also perform.

Goshiki Sakura Chorus are from the Arakawa Boro of Tokyo, an area renowned for their cherry blossom trees.The chorus will sing songs composed for this Carnegie Hall event to honor the 100 year anniversary of Japan’s gift to the U.S. of 3,000 young cherry trees as a symbol of friendship. The chorus is also scheduled to perform at the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C.

The Westchester Chordsmen is a renowned male chorus based in Westchester, New York, dedicated to the singing of the finest Barbershop music out there. Our commitment to musical excellence as well as having a good time make us the perfect outlet for creating this very unique sound.We not only have a great time singing with over 80 men of all ages, but we encourage and foster the well-established Barbershop tradition of quartet singing.

The Westchester Chordsmen was founded and chartered in June of 1953 and is a proud member of the Barbershop Harmony Society. In its over 50 years of existence, the Chorus has regularly put on performances, twice a year, and has travelled around the world and the country performing. We’ve sung in Europe and China as well as in our country’s own White House. Our most recent performance locally focused on the music of Richard Rogers, though in the same concert we sang a Beach Boys medley, God Bless America and Prayer of the Children.
